Already knew?
Alpine ibexes were almost completely exterminated in the 19th century. Only in the area of today's Gran Paradiso National Park in the Italian Alps did a manageable remnant survive. Today the species has been successfully resettled in many regions of the Alps. The wild population again includes over 22.000 animals.

The ibex living in the high mountains above the tree line had been exterminated except for small populations living in the western Italian Alps and in the Gran Paradiso massif. After 1945, the stock was significantly expanded in Switzerland and Tyrol thanks to successful reintroduction. Today, the preservation of the magnificent ibex is considered secured. The magnificent horns are never shed.

The unique outdoor area in the Steinwasen Park with natural rocks and steep slopes offers the excellent "climbing artists" an ideal terrain and our visitors an indescribable experience of nature.
